As the summer holidays jump into action in Devon and the South West, Newton Abbot Racecourse invited one lucky family to share their family day out at the races with others.
Newton Abbot Racecourse are counting down the days until their richest fixture of the season, which will see some the country’s best horses and jockeys compete for a part of the £100k prize fund on Saturday 3rd August.
Young rider Maurice Lineham got the family day at Newton Abbot races off to a flyer when he rode the Jonjo O’Neill trained and John P McManus owned DREAMSOFTHEATRE to victory in The Sikymsa Bloodstock Handicap Hurdle Race 3m 3f.
RACE 1 – 2.20
A trappy handicap to start proceedings. Dreamsoftheatre doesn’t have a great deal of form to his name, but his latest effort was a step in the right direction and today’s longer trip could easily bring about the required improvement.
