Meet the judge: Mr Frank Loft

…….

Mr Frank Loft, pictured above, founded Moretonhampstead Motor Museum.

The museum results from his life time enthusiasm for historic vehicles. In 2008, Frank took early retirement having sold the business he had built up over a ten year period. His collection at this time amounted to three classic cars and a similar number of motor cycles.

Very soon he found himself extending barns to accommodate a growing collection which was, by now attracting visitors from local motoring groups. In 2012, Frank took a leap of faith and purchased the Old Bus Depot in the moorland town of Moretonhampstead.

At this time the building was in a very poor state of repair, so Frank, with a small work team, spent the next twelve months refurbishing, replacing the roof and increasing the display area by building a small section of mezzanine.

This completed phase 1 of the improvements and allowed the museum to open its doors in June 2013 with about sixty exhibits.

Since then, Frank has managed two further major development phases so the museum can provide a home for the current one hundred and fifty plus main exhibits and all the other memorabilia.
