Racing returns THIS SATURDAY for Easter Season Opener

The wait is over – racing returns to Newton Abbot Racecourse on Easter Saturday 8 April for the 2023 Season Opener.

The Easter Saturday fixture is the perfect way for families to start the school holidays on a high without breaking the bank. Children aged under 18 will enjoy free entry to all fixtures at Newton Abbot this year. Plus, the racecourse will be giving out a free Easter egg to the first 200 children through the gates on the day.

Newton Abbot Racecourse is bucking the trend of increasing prices this year by actually reducing ticket prices for the Paddock Enclosure by up to £6 per person. Paddock Enclosure entry will cost just £16 when purchased in advance this year, down from £22 on the gate in 2022.

Speaking ahead of the Season Opener, Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming racegoers back to Newton Abbot Racecourse for another fantastic season of summer jumps racing.

“We’re very mindful that a lot of families are feeling the impact of the current economic climate. With this is mind, we have reduced our Paddock Enclosure prices this season by up to £6 a ticket to ensure that as many racing fans as possible can continue to enjoy a day at the races in 2023. We offer a great value day out for racing fans of all ages.

“At Newton Abbot we continuously strive to improve the racing experience for our customers. Historically, racegoers have had to queue for longer than we would like at the bar areas. With this in mind, we have made a number of changes in the bars, including a significant recruitment and training campaign to help reduce the wait and improve the overall customer experience again this year. More significantly, we have also built a new cellar which connects the three largest bars together to ensure the customer gets the perfect pint every time.”

As one of the most popular race meetings of the year, racegoers are advised to leave additional time for their journey to avoid delays on Easter Saturday. Gates open at 11.40am ahead of the first of the day’s seven races at 1.40pm. The final race of the day is set for 5.10pm.

Eighteen fixtures will take place at Newton Abbot this year between the Season Opener on Easter Saturday and the Season Finale on Saturday 21 October. With weekday, weekend and evening race meetings, there’s a fixture for all racing fans to enjoy in 2023.
