Patrick Masterson to Retire From Newton Abbot Racecourse

Patrick Masterson, the longstanding Managing Director of Newton Abbot Racecourse, has announced his retirement with effect from 31st December 2024.

Pat has been with us for 35 years having previously served with HM Armed Forces; he has been our Managing Director for the past 25 years.

Pat has seen the racecourse through a period of change in the racing industry with skill and astute leadership.

The progression of Newton Abbot Racecourse under his management has been significant, as he negotiated our media rights and advocated forcefully for increased prize money and upgraded facilities at the racecourse, enhancing owners, trainers and racegoers’ raceday experience.

Pat has also contributed to the wider UK racing industry by sitting on numerous industry Boards & Committees.

Pat will be missed by the Board of Directors, shareholders, staff at Newton Abbot Racecourse and by many in the wider racing industry.

On behalf of all, we take this opportunity to thank Pat for his leadership and commitment, and to wish him and his wife Vivienne (who has also been a long-serving employee of NAR) a long and fulfilling retirement.
