Newton Abbot Joins RCA’s New Summer Jumps Championship for 2025

Newton Abbot Racecourse is proud to be part of an exciting new initiative for 2025, the RCA Summer Jumps Championship, launched by the Racecourse Association to celebrate and reward success across Britain’s summer jumps season.

Running from Saturday 24th May at Cartmel to Friday 19th September, culminating at Newton Abbot, the Championship brings together all summer jump fixtures in a points-based competition aimed at recognising the achievements of jockeys, owners, trainers, and small trainers (those with fewer than 30 winners in the traditional Trainers’ Championship).

With a total prize pot of £30,000, winners in each category will receive £7,500, with prize money for trainers directed to the yard’s stable staff. The Championship hopes to build on a successful 2024 summer season and provide a compelling narrative to summer jumping, encouraging participation and fan engagement.

Kevin Walsh, Racing Director at the RCA, said:

It has been a longstanding aspiration of the RCA to develop a Championship to celebrate summer jumps racing. With support from across the industry, we’re thrilled to launch a format that adds excitement and rewards excellence.

Newton Abbot Racecourse will host 11 fixtures within the Championship, including its key season dates:
28 May, 4 June, 13 June, 24 June, 4 July, 14 July, 20 July, 21 August, 30 August, 9 September and the 19 September

Stay tuned throughout the summer as we bring fans updates on the Championship standings and celebrate standout performances on and off the track.
