Newton Abbot Country Show 2023 FAQS

If you’re planning on joining us at this year’s Newton Abbot Racecourse Country Show, here is everything you need to know ahead of your visit:

Where does the Newton Abbot Racecourse Country Show take place?

The name gives it away – the Country Show will take place in the heart of Newton Abbot Racecourse with a mix of indoor and outdoor elements to enjoy.

What time does the Country Show open?

The 2023 Country Show will open at 10am on Saturday 12 August and will close at 4pm.

How much is entry to the show?

Tickets to the 2023 Newton Abbot Racecourse Country Show are on sale now at just £6 for adults when booking in advance (before 4pm Friday 11 Aug) or £8 if buying at the gate on the day.

Children aged 16 and under enjoy FREE entry when accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be purchased today via our online ticket store

Please note, advanced ticket sales will close at 4pm on Friday 11 August – after this they will only be available on the gate on Saturday at full price

Will I need cash?

Whilst most exhibitors can now accept card payments, we would still recommend bringing some cash with you to be on the safe side. The nearest cash machine to the racecourse is over the road, at Tesco.

Is parking available at the Country Show?

Yes, there will be ample FREE on-site parking at the racecourse and this will be situated in the centre of the course. Car entrance will be the same as on racedays, with entry via Greenhill Way. No car entry is permitted via the main drive opposite Tesco.

We’ll be arriving on foot – where do we enter?

Our Pedestrian entrance is accessible via the main drive, opposite Tesco – please see map for location. No pedestrians are permitted via Greenhill Way.

Is there disabled parking?

Yes, we will have a designated parking area allocated to Blue Badge holders. This is accessible via Greenhill Way where you will then be directed by our friendly parking team.

For those guests using mobility scooters, we would recommend using the main track crossing rather than the pedestrian crossing near the farrier as that is a soft crossing and may not be suitable for mobility scooters / wheelchairs. If in doubt, please do ask a member of our team on the day.

Are dogs allowed?

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the Country Show but must be kept on leads at all times. They will not be allowed in the Food Hall or Silks and not near the ponies/parade ring or Alpacas.

As the Country Show is in August and we’re hopeful for nice weather, please do not leave dogs unattended in cars for their own safety as it can get warm very quickly.

Are there things for Children to do?

We have lots of activities lined up for children to enjoy including: Humaryn Shetland pony rides, Exmouth Miniature Train rides, inflatables, hook-a-duck, plus our children’s play area.

There are also lots of demonstrations to enjoy too, including:
• Dartmoor Hill Pony Display Team
• Recycled Racehorse Falconry display
• South Devon Hunt display
• Ferret Racing
• Farrier demonstration
• Lakemoor Alpacas
• Newton Bushell Morris Dancers
• Newton Abbot Martial Arts demonstrations
• Corn Dolly Craft Workshop with Newton Abbot Flower Club (situated in the Owners & Trainers Lounge)

What time will the displays take place?

Here is the timetable of events and displays at the Country Show – which will you watch first?

Events listed in black will take place in the Display Arena. Events listed in green will take place in front of the Main Grandstand.

Is there a map available?

Yes, a map will be given to all families upon entry. You can also find a copy here to plan your day ahead of arrival:

Will there be stalls to visit / shop with?

Alongside our Agricultural and Country Zone, we’re delighted to be joined by over 80 local companies and organisations in our Indoor Craft & Gift Hall, Food Hall and outside market area.
